Hi, I'm Sherry Dumont.

I didn’t get here alone. Throughout my life, teachers, mentors, family and friends have poured into me—sharing hard-earned wisdom, opening doors and holding space if and when I need it. Sending the elevator back down is how I pay it forward—through mentorship, service and helping others rise. 

Today, I'm proud to serve on the board of directors for Writers & Books and have given my time and expertise to other organizations, including:

Reduced-Investment & Pro Bono Work: Good work deserves good marketing, even when the budget has other ideas. On a discretionary basis, I reserve a small number of reduced-investment and pro bono engagements each year for nonprofits and cause-based organizations working to expand opportunity, strengthen communities and make life better for the people they serve. I'm a proud Army brat—twice over. Both of my late parents served and growing up in a military family gave me an early understanding of what it means to have a mission—and to show up for it. 

In 2023, I edited and published Forest of Darkness: The Memoir of a U.S. Special Forces POW, my father's firsthand account of his 16 months in captivity during the Vietnam War.

It remains the most personal and consequential project of my life. I didn't simply transform a decades-old manuscript into a book others could read, I preserved my father's voice and helped ensure his story lives on.

The experience required every part of me: the researcher, writer, editor and strategist. And above all, the daughter. It reminded me that sometimes the most important work isn't the work you're paid to do. It's the work you feel called to carry.
